My mom always put my happiness above everything. After my dad abandoned us, she dedicated her life to raising me and never tried to find love again. I wanted to do something special for her and thought it was never too late to find happiness on a dating app. What I definitely DID NOT EXPECT was to find out who her match would be!

The Decision to Create a Profile
My name is Lucy, and I’m 23 years old. As usual, I visited my mom, Phoebe, over the weekend. I’m her only daughter, and she has no one else. Since my dad left us, she never had another relationship.
She spent years focusing on me, putting her personal life aside. Now, at 56, finding a partner didn’t seem easy, but I was determined to help her.
I decided to create a Tinder profile for her. We were in her living room, and I was taking pictures, trying to get the perfect pose.
“Mom, stand near the window so the natural light helps,” I suggested.
She laughed, a bit embarrassed. “Lucy, I feel weird doing this!”
“Mom, it’s never too late to feel beautiful and loved!” I laughed, trying to convince her.
Finally, we got some great pictures, and I created her profile. We filled out the bio together, highlighting her love for gardening, cooking, and her caring nature. She hesitated at first, but when she saw the result, she smiled. “Maybe you’re right, Lucy. Who knows?”
I was happy to see her excited. She spent the night exploring the app, and I went home satisfied, hoping this would bring joy to her life.
The Shocking Discovery
The next morning, I arrived at the office and grabbed coffee with my colleague Natalie.
“Lucy, you won’t believe it! Michael, our boss, hasn’t stopped smiling at his phone. He must have found someone!”
I was surprised. Michael had always been a serious, workaholic man. “Our boss, in love? I need to see this!”
Natalie and I made a plan. While she asked him to review some documents, I quickly grabbed his phone from the desk and discreetly glanced at the screen.
What I saw left me in shock.
It was my mom. Michael and Phoebe had been chatting excitedly since the night before. They had already planned a date for that evening. My heart started racing. This couldn’t be happening!
The Plan to Sabotage the Date
I panicked. I couldn’t let this happen! My boss as my stepdad? No way! I had to stop that date.
As the workday ended, I noticed Michael was in a hurry to leave. He wanted to finish a project before his date. That’s when I got an idea.
I approached him with my laptop and pretended to have a problem. “Michael, can you help me review this report? I’m not sure if it’s correct.”
He checked his watch, impatient. “Lucy, I’m in a hurry, but let’s take a look.”
Michael skimmed through the report quickly and went back to his computer. My plan wasn’t working. He was going to finish on time!
That’s when I made a drastic decision. I grabbed the coffee on his desk and “accidentally” spilled it on his laptop.
“No, Lucy! What did you do?!” Michael shouted, trying to save his laptop, but it was too late. The screen went black.
“Oh my God, I’m so sorry, boss! It was an accident…” I faked distress.
Michael sighed in frustration and checked his phone. He quickly typed something and took off his jacket, resigning himself. “Well, I guess my night is ruined. I’ll have to redo everything now.”
I should have felt victorious, but guilt crept in. What had I done?
The Confession and Redemption
Later, I called my mom and heard her disappointed voice. “Honey, I don’t think dating is for me. I’m deleting the app.”
My heart sank. What had I done out of pure selfishness?
I made a decision. I went back to Michael’s office and, with a trembling voice, said, “Michael, can you give me a ride? I need to talk to you.”
He agreed, not knowing our destination was my mom’s house.
When she opened the door and saw us together, she was shocked. “Lucy? What’s going on?”
I took a deep breath. “Mom, Michael… I tried to sabotage your date. I saw the messages and panicked. I thought it would be too weird. But I was selfish and didn’t think about how you felt.”
Michael widened his eyes. “Lucy, you sabotaged my night?”
My mom sighed, her expression softening. “Honey, I understand your fear. But my happiness matters too.”
Michael smiled. “Lucy, your mom is amazing. I’d really like to get to know her better.”
I felt an overwhelming relief. “If this makes you happy, Mom, then I’m happy too.”
She smiled and invited him to dinner. When she asked me to stay, I shook my head. “No, Mom. This night is for you two.”
As I drove home, I smiled. In the end, love truly has no age.
